Common core state standards have a different history in each of the following states. When the common core initiative was taken by the school chiefs and governors, it was welcomed by forty-four US states, which were in the favor of a new and common national curriculum. The District of Columbia and four territories have also accepted the common core standards. However, there were some states and territories, which insisted to continue their existing standards: Texas, Oklahoma, Alaska, Virginia, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska and Puerto Rico.

In Florida, the common core state standards were adopted on July 27, 2010; they were adopted by Florida State Board of Education, and the full implementation was done in the School Year 2012-2014. In Georgia, the standards were adopted on July 8, 2010. They were adopted by Georgia Board of Education, and the fully implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015. In Alabama, the standards were adopted on November 18, 2010. The standards were adopted by Alabama State Board of Education, and they were implemented in the School Year 2013-2014. In Mississippi, the standards were adopted on June 28, 2010. The authority was Mississippi Board of Education, and the standards were implemented in the School Year 2013-2014.

In Louisiana, the common core state standards were adopted on July 1, 2010. The adopting authority was Louisiana State Board of Education, and they were implemented in the School Year 2013-2014. In South Carolina, the standards were adopted on July 14, 2010. They were adopted by South Carolina State Department of Education, and the implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. While in North Carolina, the standards were adopted on June 3, 2010, by the North Carolina State Board of Education and North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2012-2013.

In Tennessee, the common core state standards were adopted on July 30, 2010 by Tennessee State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Arkansas, the standards were adopted on July 12, 2010 by Arkansas State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Kentucky, the standards were adopted on February 10, 2010 by Kentucky Department of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2011-2012. In West Virginia, the standards were adopted on June 2, 2010 by West Virginia Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015.

In Illinois, the common core state standards were adopted on June 24, 2010 by Illinois State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Missouri, the standards were adopted on June 15, 2010 by Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015. In Iowa, the standards were adopted on July 29, 2010 by Iowa State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2012-2013. In Wisconsin, the standards were adopted on June 02, 2010 by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015.

In Michigan, the common core state standards were adopted on June 15, 2010 by Michigan State Board of Education. The implementation was done in the school year 2012-2013. In Ohio, the standards were adopted on June 18, 2010 by Ohio State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Pennsylvania, the standards were adopted on July 02, 2010 by Pennsylvania State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014.

In Maryland, the common core state standards were adopted on June 22, 2010 by Maryland State Board of Education. The implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Delaware, the standards were adopted on August 19, 2010 by Delaware Department of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2012-2013. In New Jersey the standards were adopted on June 23, 2010 by New Jersey State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In New York, the standards were adopted on July 19, 2010 by New York State Education Department. The implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014.

In Connecticut, the common core state standards were adopted on July 07, 2010 by Connecticut State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in 2013-2014. In Rhode Island, the standards were adopted on July 1, 2010 by Rhode Island Department of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Massachusetts, the standards were adopted on July 21, 2010 by Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Vermont, the standards were adopted on August 17, 2010 by Vermont State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014.

In New Hampshire, the common core standards were adopted on July 13, 2010 by New Hampshire State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015. In Maine, the standards were adopted on April 04, 2011 by Maine Department of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2012-2013. In Kansas, the standards were adopted on October 12, 2010 by Kansas State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In South Dakota, the standards were adopted on November 29, 2010 by South Dakota Department of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015.

In North Dakota, the common core state standards were adopted on June 20, 2011 by North Dakota Department of Public Instruction. The full implementation was done in the year 2013-2014. In Montana, the standards were adopted on November 04, 2011 by Montana Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Wyoming, the standards were adopted on June 16, 2012 by Wyoming Department of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015.

In Colorado, the common core state standards were adopted on August 02, 2010 by Colorado State Board of Education. The implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In New Mexico, the standards were adopted on November 29, 2010 by The New Mexico Public Education Department. The implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Idaho, the standards were adopted on January 24, 2011 by Superintendent Tom Luna and Governor. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Utah, the standards were adopted on August 08, 2010 by Utah State Office of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014.

In Arizona, the common core state standards were adopted on June 28, 2010 by Arizona State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014. In Washington, the standards were adopted on July 20, 2011 by Superintendent Randy Dorn. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015. In Oregon, the standards were adopted on October 29, 2010 by Oregon Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015. In Nevada, the standards were adopted on June 22, 2010 by Nevada Department of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2013-2014.

In California, the common core state standards were adopted on August 02, 2010 by California State Board of Education. The full implementation was done in the School Year 2014-2015.
